MasterSmith will NEVER ask you to upload your music and will NEVER send it to the cloud. Audio analysis and processing happen on YOUR machine!
Why MasterSmith?
Many online mastering and audio-analysis services require musicians to upload their recordings to a remote server, where an automated system makes decisions behind the scenes.
MasterSmith takes a different approach. It runs locally on your Windows or Intel Mac computer, analyses your own files and explains its findings in plain English. You remain in control of both your music and the decisions made about it.
* Private by design: Your music remains on your computer.
* Non-destructive: Your original recording is never overwritten.
* Clear guidance: Reports explain what was found and what MasterSmith changed.
* Purpose-built targets: Prepare audio specifically for vinyl, CD or digital release.
* No subscription: Buy the software rather than continually renting access to it.
How MasterSmith Works

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is “Render Selected Preview” disabled in MasterSmith EQ?
The Render Selected Preview button becomes available only when MasterSmith-EQ proposes one or more corrective EQ moves and at least one proposed move is selected.
If the analysis reports that no automatic corrective EQ is recommended, rendering remains disabled. This is intentional: the original audio is already the recommended result, so MasterSmith-EQ will not create an unnecessary duplicate file.
Rendering is also disabled when analysing an existing MasterSmith-EQ preview, preventing repeated processing of the same audio.
Does MasterSmith upload my music?
No. Your music is analysed and processed locally on your own computer. MasterSmith does not upload your audio or send it to a cloud service.
Will MasterSmith overwrite my original recording?
Never. MasterSmith creates new output files and leaves the original source untouched.
Do I need mastering experience?
No. MasterSmith was created specifically to provide clear guidance for musicians who may not understand technical subjects such as headroom, stereo bass, true peak, dithering or loudness measurements.
What is the difference between MasterSmith and MasterSmith EQ?
MasterSmith prepares audio for a chosen destination such as vinyl, CD or digital release. MasterSmith EQ analyses the tonal balance of a mix or master and identifies possible problems across its frequency range.
What does Rescue do?
Rescue is included with MasterSmith. It carefully improves difficult legacy or previously lossy recordings before producing a high-quality WAV or FLAC version, while clearly reporting the source history.
Can I use MasterSmith for paid mastering work?
A Personal Licence is intended for musicians working with their own music. A Commercial Licence is required when MasterSmith is used as part of a paid audio or mastering service.
Is MasterSmith a subscription?
No. MasterSmith products are sold as one-time purchases rather than ongoing subscriptions.
Can Rescue turn an MP3 into genuinely lossless audio?
Previous lossy source detected: Rescue may reduce harshness and compression artefacts and create a high-quality WAV or FLAC delivery file, but it cannot restore audio information permanently removed by earlier lossy compression. The result remains derived from a lossy source. Rescue is intended for situations where the original lossless master no longer exists and a platform requires a WAV or FLAC upload. It does not guarantee that every platform will accept the resulting file, as individual submission requirements may vary.
